Hello all, A Private Member's Bill was re-introduced on March 19, 2018 to include "physical size and weight" as a protected category, in the Manitoba Human Rights Code! (Video: https://www.facebook.com/MBLiberalCaucus/videos/357708681393561/) Dr. Jon Gerrard, MLA, introduced the Bill, which will now be the 3rd time this Bill was brought forward. Here is a brief timeline of the Bill: October 2016-The Bill was first introduced and didn't go anywhere and was labeled, "dead". November 2016-The Bill was introduced for the second time after the Rally to End Weight Discrimination hosted by Manitobans Against Weight Stigma on the steps of the MB Legislature. November 2017- The second Bill was put to a vote and was voted "No", 35-16. March 2018-Bill reintroduced for the third time. April 2018 and beyond....please continue to email MLAs to show your support for this Bill. It is of particular importance to email the MLAs who voted NO, which were all of the PC-MLAs.
