Urge the FBI and Federal Government to Publicly Address Racist Rhetoric from GOP Officials

The Issue

I find this matter close to my heart as I recently witnessed a shocking act of dishonesty and blatant racism in my local community. Recently, Vance, a prominent Republican figure, falsely accused Hattians of "coming into Springfield, Ohio and stealing pets for consumption." This deceit not only spread harmful stereotypes about a vulnerable community, but it also incited fear, leading to the closure of elementary schools, federal buildings, and businesses due to bomb threats. This is only one instance highlighting the breadth and depth of racial hate speech emerging from public representatives like Trump, Vance, and other Republican officials. Protection is a fundamental right, and these racist remarks only serve to put our communities, specifically minorities such as the Haitians, Blacks, and immigrants, at risk.

Across the nation, hate crimes rose 30% in the past four years (Southern Poverty Law Center). A significant rise occurred after Trump's first election and inflammatory remarks about different ethnicities (Pew Research Center). It demonstrates the real-world, dangerous impact of these hate-filled narratives—it's not just words; lives are at stake.

It's time for substantial change. We're urging the FBI and the Federal government to not just acknowledge but actively address this deeply ingrained racism among our elected Republican officials. No one should fear for their safety based on misinformation, stereotypes, or xenophobia. We demand a public response and involved action from those who have the power to make a difference.

Help us prevent another Springfield incident. Put an end to these malicious, racist narratives. Sign this petition and bring justice for the affected communities.
