Urge the City of Vincent to Halt Glyphosate Usage in Public Parks

1,200

The issue

We, as a part of the Vincent community, advocate for the safety and health of each individual, animal, and diverse wildlife present in our parks. We are deeply troubled by the city's use of glyphosate for weed control in our public spaces. The World Health Organisation has classified glyphosate as a known carcinogen, which greatly endangers everyone frequently visiting these communal spaces.

Such a risk is not isolated to our human community, but extends to our cherished animal and wildlife populations who inhabit or visit these spaces. The widespread use of glyphosate fails to consider that there are many non-chemical alternatives available for weed control. These alternatives do not pose the same threats to health nor, critically, do they impose an insurmountable financial burden on the City of Vincent's budget.

It is absolutely critical for the City to act upon these concerns and cease the use of glyphosate immediately. Alternatives such as mechanical weed control, mulching, and ecological weed control could be explored and implemented. Our community's health should not be compromised due to financial constraints.

We need urgent action. Sign the petition to implore the City of Vincent to take proactive steps in reconsidering its weed control methodology. The health of our community and ecosystem depends on it. Let's rid our parks of glyphosate use.
