With elation as well as grief for those who have died and suffered needless life debilitating injuries, we are happy to share that the City of Seattle’s Department of Construction & Infrastructure has issued a “Hazard” report demanding that Seattle Parks & Recreation remove catwalks, ladders and appurtenances that make Gas Works structures climbable. The city must comply by May 15, or risk a law suit and $500 daily fine. This is a long overdue action that was once again put in the limelight due to tragedy and loss of another young man, 15 year old Mattheis Johnson last July.
