Urge the Board of Regents to Limit the change on SF-2435

The Issue

This petition begins with our student experience at one of three Regent's Universities. A lot of us chose this institute due to its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs. Such programs are necessary to create an inclusive environment that promotes understanding, respect, and fairness. Today, we stand on the verge of a crucial decision: the vote on SF-2435. The passing of this law will limit the prospects and restrict the resources available to future students interested in DEI programs. According to a study from the Association of American Colleges and Universities, DEI programs foster an improved educational environment that encourages creative problem-solving and enriches the academic system (Source: AACU, 2020). The potential effects of SF-2435 on these programs would, therefore, not only discourage prospective students but also have large-scale implications on the dynamism and richness of their education. For the sake of future students and the quality of our education, we must urge the Board of Regents to inform the legislatures that you wish to have the law rewritten or repealed on SF-2435. However if not we ask holding as many programs in place as possible. This will allow us more time to scrutinize the law and understand its potential impact on this essential aspect of our academic culture. Please sign this petition to show your support.
