Following a helpful and productive meeting today with Rachel Blake, I am pleased to summarise the key points discussed:
- Rachel Blake will arrange a one-to-one meeting with the Deputy Mayor of London to raise the issue directly.
- Rachel and her team will also reach out to other relevant groups and invite them to contribute to the discussion. In particular, she mentioned the noise issues around the Barbican Estate, which she is aware of, and she will also contact the Marylebone Association.
- Rachel advised that Transport for London does have funds available; the key issue is how those funds are prioritised. As an MP, she believes pressure can and will be applied to ensure the matter receives proper attention.
- She also suggested that it may be helpful for a small group of local residents to participate in a future meeting with her and TFL, so they can explain directly how the noise is affecting them and their homes. When the time comes, I will contact those who have already sent me a message and expressed a willingness to participate.
In the meantime, I am still awaiting a response from TfL to a number of detailed questions I submitted, which they have confirmed they are still working on.
