 Dear Cllr Swaddle and Peter,

Thank you for writing to the Commissioner of Transport for London, raising the matter of Tube noise on the Jubilee line that has been impacting residents and customers in Westminster. He has asked me to respond your concerns and apologises for impact this is having.

Our noise and rail vibration team were provided with the petition and have been responding to residents’ reports of the issue. They are aware there is an issue with rail noise on this section of the Jubilee line and are determining when we can carry out rail grinding.

We have confirmed to residents that other measures such as track lubrication is unlikely to address the issue in this location.

We will write to you again when we have confirmed the date for rail grinding.

Dear Bruce,

Thank you again for raising this issue and for keeping us posted on developments.

We have just received a response from TFL, and although it mostly states information about which you are already aware, it is welcome that they appear committed to carrying out rail grinding. As you are aware Councillor Swaddle does not have the power/authority over TFL though he/we will continue to press them for a resolution.

Please feel free to contact us with any further developments and we will do the same.

Best wishes,

Peter Hornsby
