I'm deeply concerned about the environmental impact of SINGLE-USE PLASTICS in our community, and I know I am not alone in feeling this way! Every piece of plastic ever made still exists somewhere on our planet!  It’s vital for each of us to take responsibility and actively reduce plastic waste. However, this effort needs to be facilitated by accessible and convenient recycling options. This is why I am calling upon the Sunshine Coast Council to fund the household, business & store collection of soft plastics through the innovative ReSmart system. ♻️

Soft plastics are everywhere – from packaging materials to bags – and they pose a significant threat to our ecosystem if not properly disposed of. Currently, many RESIDENTS & BUSINESS OWNERS find it challenging to recycle soft plastics due to COSTS involved to dispose of our plastics environmentally! By implementing a funded collection system, we can eliminate this barriers & greatly increase participation in recycling efforts.♻️

@ReSmart is a proven program designed to efficiently collect and process recyclable plastics. It leverages technology and community collaboration to ensure plastics are responsibly managed and kept out of landfills. Funding this initiative will not only enhance environmental sustainability on the Sunshine Coast but also ensure that more residents and business’s actively participate in eco-friendly practices.

Statistics show that Australians use around 3.5 MILLIONS TONNES of plastics annually, with most ending up in landfill! This is an alarming number that contributes to pollution and affects marine & wildlife. By funding ReSmart, the Sunshine Coast can lead by example, setting a precedent for other regions to follow!
