For over sixty years, the nursery at St. Anne's College, Oxford, has stood as a beacon of progress and empowerment. Founded by trailblazing women academics, it dismantled the structural hurdles of balancing motherhood and academia. By nurturing young minds while supporting the academic journey of parents, it has symbolized the college's steadfast commitment to women’s education and equality.

In a shocking decision, the Principal and Governing Body have announced plans to shutter this essential institution at short notice, overlooking its rich legacy and vital role within our community. 

The decision will have a considerable negative impact on the wellbeing of the nursery's children, who will lose a familiar and nurturing environment, and on the dedicated staff of the nursery who, through no fault of their own, will find themselves redundant at Christmas. The abrupt announcement has left families with very little time to secure alternative childcare, disrupting personal and professional lives.
