Good morning SHS families and friends! We've had a wonderful call with Principal Pearce this morning and I'm excited to say she is open to communication and ideas. Her biggest take away she wants us to have is nothing is set in stone and she's open to hearing what the families of graduates have to say. She brought up the idea of sending out a survey to parents that will give a better idea of the options we have. Ideas that were discussed include holding the graduation on a different school's football field, holding graduation at the Dome Church and holding graduation at an outside venue. The key take away is that communication is open and ideas will be considered, we still have a chance to ensure our students graduate together! A big factor for Principal Pearce is ticket availability to families. In the past SHS has offered 6 tickets per family, but with the graduating class being at 400 seniors with the potential of 50 additional juniors graduating early that would limit the tickets per family at smaller venues. She estimates 2 tickets per family at the Dome Church and similar size venues. I think we have some work to do, but I think we can get an appropriately sized venue that will allow one class to graduate as a whole and still have the traditional 6 tickets available. Let's keep positive and remember these administrators and educational staff members are for our kids and they want to see this happen just as much as we do. Please keep comments positive and supportive, we don't want this to become negative or derogatory towards the school.
Updates will follow, but keep the ideas coming!
