Urge SF Council to Support a Cease Fire in Palestine and Uphold UN Laws
The Issue
We are calling on our San Francisco representatives, to vote yes on a permanent humanitarian ceasefire that includes release of hostages and allowing aid into Gaza and the West-Bank. We also urge the San Francisco city council members to take a stand against Israeli violations of United Nations (UN) laws. The UN has repeatedly condemned these violations, yet they continue unabated.
Israel killed over 21,000 indigenous Palestinians with over 8,500 children in the past eight weeks. The US is blocking all form of cease fire resolutions in the UN. We spend over 12% of our tax dollar to fund Israel rather than funding schools and services in San Francisco.
Gaza is now the most dangerous place for children in the world. One out of every 150 children is killed in Gaza. That is equivalent to half a million children being killed in the U.S. If the figures are even close to accurate, far more children have been killed in Gaza in the past six weeks than the 2,985 children killed in the world's major conflict zones combined - across two dozen countries - during all of last year, according to UN tallies of verified deaths in armed conflict.
This petition is in partnership with all aspects of our San Francisco community members including Jewish, Queers, merchants, faith leaders, teachers, Healthcare workers, parents, local businesses, the youth, and other residents who cherish human life.
Furthermore, we need the council members’ support to secure the city council vote as soon as December 12th, 2023 or as soon as the council convene. This is not just about one vote; it's about standing up for human rights and justice.
San Francisco prides itself on being a beacon of progressive values. It's time we put those values into action by demanding accountability from our elected officials. We got this San Francisco and we did it before by requesting cease fire in the Vietnam war.
Please join us by signing this petition today. Let's send a clear message that we stand with all victims of violence and injustice - no matter where they are from or who they are. Your signature can make all the difference.
