As someone who has dedicated over 30 years of my life studying the geopolitical nature of Palestine and its relationship with Israel, I am deeply concerned about the ongoing violations of international law by Israel. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have been implicated in numerous instances that breach human rights standards. Despite this, U.S. aid continues unabated due to a lack of enforcement of a federal measure known as the Leahy Law.

The Leahy Law is designed to prevent U.S. from providing weapons or funds for military assistance to groups when there is credible information indicating these groups have violated human rights. Unfortunately, our State Department under Secretary Antony Blinken appears unwilling to apply this law where it pertains to battalions within the IDF.

This situation is not only morally unacceptable but also contravenes our nation's commitment towards upholding international human rights standards. It's time that we hold Israel accountable for its actions and ensure that no U.S aid goes towards supporting any IDF units involved in violating these laws.

We implore Secretary Blinken and the State Department to uphold their duty by enforcing the Leahy Law rigorously and without exception, thereby stopping aid going towards any IDF units breaching this law.
