As concerned citizens of Edmonton, AB, Canada and organizers of Pride Corner on Whyte, an organization dedicated to the safety of 2SLGBTQ+ individuals from religious hate speech, we are deeply disturbed by the decision of Rogers Place to host Tucker Carlson's show on January 24, 2024.

Tucker Carlson is an American, right-wing ex-Fox News anchor who has been widely criticized for his racist, homophobic and sexist remarks. Hosting this show is a direct violation of safety for queer people, BIPOC and women within the walls of Rogers Place. His presence in our city contradicts the values we stand for - diversity and inclusion.

Rogers Place claims commitment to these values; however, their decision to host such an individual raises questions about their sincerity towards this commitment. It is important that venues like Rogers Place take responsibility in promoting voices that align with our community's principles rather than those that threaten them.
