Urge NSW State Premier Chris Minns to Lower the $50 Weekly Cap on Public Transport

The issue

The average income earners in Sydney are in the grips of a severe cost of living crisis. High rents, mortgages, and the spiralling cost of daily necessities have left many of us struggling. Our environment is also under siege, with climate change inducing extreme weather patterns and impacting our financial stability. Yet, the cost of using public transportation in our city remains high, which is why we are appealing to the NSW State Premier Chris Minns to consider lowering the $50 weekly cap.

Significantly reducing public transport costs would serve us, Sydney residents, in two pivotal ways: it would alleviate the financial pressure that many of us face, and it would encourage environmentally-friendly transport habits by dissuading the use of private cars. A decrease in car ownership and usage would lessen our carbon footprint in turn, contributing towards the mitigation of climate change's impacts, which we are bearing the brunt of.

Therefore, we ask Premier Chris Minns to consider the economic and environmental benefits of lowering the weekly cap on public transport. We are facing a moment of crisis, and in these challenging times, what we need most of all is the support to make sustainable living affordable. Please sign this petition in favour of a more equitable and environmentally responsible Sydney.

Our current goal is 500 signatures.
