As a Jewish Israeli with friends in the IDF, and knowing people held hostage by Hamas, I am deeply concerned about the rampant spread of disinformation and hate speech against Israel on Meta's platforms. Millions of individuals are disseminating false narratives about the conflict between Israel and Hamas, including the criminal act that occurred on October 7th in Israel, as conspiracy theories. These unfounded claims are not only targeting individuals but also inciting hatred towards the entire Jewish community.

The lack of regulation or filtering mechanisms is alarming. According to a study by Oxford University, social media platforms like Facebook (now Meta) have become hotbeds for spreading misinformation (Reuters, 2019). This unchecked flow of disinformation fuels animosity and deepens societal divisions.

We urge Mark Zuckerberg as president of Meta to take immediate action against this issue. We implore him to implement stricter regulations for content moderation, enhance fact-checking measures, and invest in technologies that can effectively combat hate speech.
