Urge Mercari to Eliminate Buyer Fees and Free Direct Deposit Transfers

Urge Mercari to Eliminate Buyer Fees and Free Direct Deposit Transfers
The Issue
As a dedicated seller and buyer on Mercari, I have experienced and witnessed firsthand the negative impact of the recent changes in their fee structure. Buyers are now confronted with unexpected fees at checkout, while sellers are charged $2 for transferring their earnings via direct deposit. This has not only led to a decline in sales but also affected those who rely on Mercari as a source of income, such as myself.
Many sellers and buyers alike are upset by this change. The new fee structure is not transparent; buyers see one price initially but then find an array of additional fees added at checkout, resulting in a much higher total cost than anticipated. For sellers like myself, these changes mean losing potential sales and income.
Moreover, charging for direct deposit transfers places an unnecessary burden on those who depend on their earnings from Mercari to cover essential expenses such as bills or rent. Previously, listing fees were charged to sellers which was more manageable and fairer.
I believe that reverting back to charging listing fees instead of buyer's fees would be beneficial for all parties involved - it would increase transparency for buyers while ensuring that sellers can continue earning without unnecessary deductions.
In light of these concerns, I urge Mercari’s CEO John Lagerling and everyone else imvloved with this decision to reconsider its current fee policies. I request that they eliminate the buyer's fees and make direct deposit transfers free once again.
