As dedicated community members who tirelessly strive to protect and save animals from harm, we have been deeply affected by the case of Brook Scalero. This individual stands accused of the most heinous of crimes against some of the very animals we work with - the brutal torture and killing of dogs. Unfortunately, the Maricopa County attorney's office has made a choice that baffles us, dropping the felony charges against Scalero.

This decision obstructs a jury from deciding on the guilt of Scalero, potentially letting someone evade justice for these horrific acts.

We are horrified by the potential opportunity for Brook Scalero to continue to torture and murder, as well as the message it sends to the community regarding the lax enforcement of laws with regards to animal cruelty. 

By allowing Scalero's case to move forward, we could send a strong message of zero tolerance for any form of animal cruelty. 

We implore the Maricopa County attorney to reconsider their decision, to uphold justice, and to leave no stone unturned in the fight against animal cruelty. Allow a jury to hear the case of Brook Scalero and let them determine her guilt for the atrocious acts against these innocent creatures.
