Urge ICU to champion Allstar Cheerleading in the Olympics
The Issue
For over a decade, I poured my heart and soul into allstar cheerleading. It was more than just a sport to me; it was a lifelong passion and commitment. However, despite the countless hours of dedication and the athleticism involved, allstar cheerleading continues to be overlooked by the prestigious International Olympic Committee (IOC). This has often led to the sport not receiving the recognition it truly deserves, and cheerleaders, like myself, have been unfairly viewed as less serious athletes.
Allstar cheerleading is a vibrant, challenging, and inclusive sport that combines elements of gymnastics, dance, and stunting. It requires immense skill, strength, teamwork, and discipline-- qualities that are the hallmark of any Olympic sport. Currently, allstar cheerleading is represented by the International Cheer Union (ICU), which is recognized by the IOC as the governing body for the sport globally. Therefore, the ICU holds the key to unlocking the Olympic dream for cheerleaders worldwide.
Allstar cheerleading is already recognized as eligible for Olympic inclusion by the IOC. It is the responsibility of the ICU not to allow this progress to stagnate. We call upon the ICU to take decisive action by submitting a formal proposal to the IOC to include allstar cheerleading in the Olympics. This inclusion would not only elevate the sport to the international stage but also empower countless cheerleaders whose dedication and passion have long been overlooked.
Inclusion in the Olympics would provide aspiring cheerleaders with the recognition, resources, and respect they deserve. It would dramatically shift public perception and offer cheerleaders opportunities that were once unimaginable, from increased funding to more rigorous training facilities.
Statistics show that cheerleading is already a global phenomenon, with millions of participants in over 100 countries. It is time for allstar cheerleading to gain the same prestige and honor as other Olympic sports. The ICU has the mandate to bring this dynamic sport forward, legitimizing it within the Olympic framework, and allowing cheerleaders to represent their countries on the grandest of stages.
Please join me in this mission by urging the International Cheer Union to make allstar cheerleading part of the Olympic Games. Sign the petition today and help cheerleaders step into the spotlight they rightly deserve!
