Here we have up close and personal the side of Goole in 2024 the governing party n this country, and the Town Deal brigade, say we’re moaning if we draw attention to it.

The picture is taken from the main entrance to the Victoria Pleasure Grounds, which the Town Deal and Councils want to dramatically increase in use. At the same time this new residential is being crammed into a small space, formerly garages, creating a dangerous blind corner at a multiple junction. East Riding Council have given planning permission for this development and the VPG plans. Residents around VPG have not been directly consulted about the impact on their lives.

The footpath, such as it was, is blocked out of use at this blind corner. The only pieces of road without parked cars are where there are double yellow lines. A heavy concentration of HMOs approved by East Riding Council has been adding to the pressure on parking space. Now the new church at the former Victoria Working Men’s Club seems to be the base for North Yorkshire Council licensed taxis, which makes traffic and parking even more problematic.

Mention any of this, and you are labelled “negative”, a “moaner” a “naysayer” by our MP, councillors and the Town Deal Board. They’ve got their big plans and personal ambitions met, the consultants who are being paid out of the public purse to dream up the Town Deal plans being imposed on the public are doing fine too.

Local residents want much better for Goole. They deserve much better.
