The issue

Every time I visit Grill’d, I receive a Local Matters token and get to choose a cause to support. It’s a simple idea that gives customers a direct way to contribute to something bigger than their meal.

I’m asking Grill’d to consider taking that idea further by supporting humanitarian relief for Palestinian civilians through a national Local Matters initiative.

Grill’d has already shown that Local Matters can extend beyond individual restaurant communities through national campaigns for larger causes. This existing platform could provide customers across Australia with an opportunity to support humanitarian assistance for Palestinian children and families.

What we’re asking Grill’d to do

We’re asking Grill’d to consider partnering with an eligible, Australian-registered humanitarian organisation providing assistance to Palestinian children and feature that organisation through a national Local Matters initiative, fundraising campaign or other charitable partnership.

One potential organisation is Palestinian Children’s Relief Fund Australia Limited (PCRF Australia), an Australian-registered charity with Deductible Gift Recipient status. Alternatively, Grill’d could undertake its own due diligence and select another eligible humanitarian organisation.

The important thing is that any initiative is transparent about the organisation selected and where the funds will go.

Why Local Matters?

Grill’d created Local Matters around a powerful idea: customers can have a say in supporting causes that matter to their communities.

There is an opportunity to use that same infrastructure to provide humanitarian assistance beyond Australia.

This could take the form of a national Local Matters campaign, fundraising initiative, corporate contribution or another partnership developed by Grill’d and its chosen humanitarian organisation.

This petition isn’t asking Grill’d customers to take a particular political position. The request is specifically for humanitarian assistance for Palestinian civilians affected by conflict.

Food. Medical care. Essential supplies. Support for children and families.

Grill’d already has a platform that brings thousands of Australians into community giving. We’re simply asking the company to consider using that platform to provide customers with another way to help.
