Urge Gov Polis to Pardon Former Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters

Urge Gov Polis to Pardon Former Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters
The Issue
As an individual deeply invested in election integrity and monitoring, I have been following closely the case of Tina Peters, the former Mesa County clerk convicted of crimes following her service. Peters, in her quest for transparent and fair elections was met with a plethora of obstacles including prejudicial sentencing, and unfair judicial practices that can only be described as political warfare.
These unjust actions were highlighted by a Secretary of State that refuses transparency to the people that elected her, and political grandstanding that eventually led to Peter's sentencing. Peters' sentencing can be viewed as a myopic outcome of an increasingly divisive political battle, rather than an unbiased assignment of justice.
Contained within this clash of political ideologies, we find the integrity of our election system under question—the very system that ensures our democracy. Faith in our election system is of utmost importance. In a recent Gallup poll, 59% of Americans expressed their concern regarding the honesty of our electoral system. This underscored the national importance of Peters' situation.
We ask Governor Polis to consider these circumstances and pardon Tina Peters or commute her sentence. With the signing of the recent executive order for January 6th pardons, a legal precedent of releasing political prisoners in America who have received prejudicial sentencing or treatment based on political ideology has been set.
This pardon would place justice and the integrity of our electoral system above partisan disputes. We urge fellow supporters of democracy and fairness to join us in this petition. Please sign this petition and call on Gov Polis to pardon Tina Peters.
