Because I feel a profound pain and commitment to my country, for the people of my country that are suffering, dying, being arrested, and starving, I feel that I have to do something. If not, I feel responsible for the crimes that the tyrannical regime has committed against Venezuelans. The international community looks the other way, but there is an international responsibility to protect that must be applied now. The world cannot continue to ignore this crisis.

In July last year, presidential elections were held in Venezuela, during which the opposition candidate, Edmundo Gonzalez, won with more than 80% of the votes. This result clearly demonstrates the Venezuelan people's desire for change. We did everything necessary to initiate this change, but can no longer fight alone against a regime that wields its weapon machinery without hesitance.

The situation in Venezuela is dire. Under the current regime, Venezuelans are subjected to arbitrary arrests, persecution, and a severe lack of basic necessities. The people are starving, with food and medicine in short supply. The human rights violations are mounting and the suffering is immense. These are facts that can be verified through reputable international organizations and human rights groups.

The tyrannical government continues to commit atrocities while using its arsenal to silence dissent. It is time for the global community, especially governments and leaders from all sectors, to rise and take a stand for the Venezuelan people. There is an urgent need for international intervention based on the principle of responsibility to protect.

United, we can exert pressure on international bodies to ensure they acknowledge the legitimacy of the opposition's electoral victory and uphold democratic values. The leaders of the world must be bold enough to defend these basic rights and freedoms, supporting Venezuelans in their fight for a future where democracy is restored.
