Urge DVLA to Stop Third-Party Apps from Exploiting Drivers with Overpriced Test Dates!

Urge DVLA to Stop Third-Party Apps from Exploiting Drivers with Overpriced Test Dates!
The Issue
Take Action Against Unfair Reselling of Driving Test Dates – Protect Access for All!
My story is just one among thousands across the country, as we face a serious threat to both our profession and the wider public. I am part of an industry being severely affected by a disturbing trend—third-party apps are reselling driving test dates at extortionate prices. This practice is not only damaging the livelihood of Approved Driving Instructors (ADIs) but also unjustly penalizing some of the most vulnerable people in our society, including low-income families, care workers, and young drivers.
As the cost of living continues to rise, securing a driving test date should not come with a financial burden that prices out those who need it most. Many care workers, who rely on driving to perform their essential duties, are being forced to pay inflated fees just to take a test. Teenagers eagerly awaiting their chance to gain independence through driving are being hit hardest by these unnecessary extra costs. This situation adds an unfair barrier to the basic opportunity of learning to drive and entering the workforce.
The solution is straightforward: ban third-party access to driving test bookings through the DVLA portal. By cutting off access to bots and external software that scoop up dates for profit, we can restore fairness and ensure that driving tests are available to those who need them most—not those who can pay the most.
We demand action. The DVLA must act now to protect the integrity of the driving test system and ensure it remains fair and accessible to all.
Our government must act now to protect citizens from this exploitation. Everyone deserves the chance to secure a driving test at a fair price, especially during these difficult economic times. If this issue goes unaddressed, it will widen social inequality, restrict mobility, and stifle the personal and professional growth of those already struggling with the rising cost of living.
