The Issue

Four months ago, a Ugandan family living in Enschede, The Netherlands, were blessed with twins. One of these miracles developed a common skin infection known as ringworm - a perfectly curable condition. Unfortunately, their trip to the clinic turned into a nightmare.

Due to a devastating misdiagnosis by the doctor, these innocent parents found themselves entangled in an unfair and distressing situation. The doctor, mistaking the ringworm symptoms for bite marks - an unimaginable error, immediately contacted Jeugdzorg (Youth Care). Instead of being assisted, they found themselves fighting a battle against a system that wrongfully accused them of abuse and separated their twins from them.

Currently, the twins remain with Jeugdzorg, removed from their loving parents, due to this extreme misunderstanding. It's essential to highlight that globally recognised health authorities, such as the World Health Organization (WHO), classify ringworm as a common and curable skin condition. This misdiagnosis has had catastrophic personal consequences for this Ugandan family in the Netherlands.

We call on the Dutch authorities to reinvestigate this case urgently, taking into account all the medical evidence at hand. We demand justice for this family who are suffering due to a medical misinterpretation that has turned their lives upside down. Your signature on this petition sends a clear message that the public stands with this family, demanding justice, and a quick resolution to a situation that should have never occurred.
