The Issue

On July 24, 2025, my brother, Deonte Robert Brown, was maliciously gunned down by three minors while he was innocently sitting in his car. Just a week before reaching his 18th birthday, Deonte's life was taken away, leaving a permanent void in the hearts of our family and community. The suspects not only planned and executed this horrific act but also shamelessly bragged about their actions to their peers and on social media, showcasing an absolute lack of remorse.

Deonte had just graduated high school and was eagerly looking forward to his future. He was a beloved son, a brother, and a cherished uncle. He had dreams and ambitions that he was ready to bring to life. His untimely death has left a devastating impact on our family. I am now faced with the heart-wrenching task of explaining to his young nephews why their fun-loving uncle, who they adored and cherished, will never be there to play video games with them again. The pain in my mother's eyes is a constant reminder of the bright future that was cruelly stolen from us.

The tragic murder of Deonte has also laid bare the terrifying reality of how teenage violence can tear families apart. If these teenagers are tried as minors, it sends a disturbing message that such premeditated, violent actions towards innocent lives carry little consequence. Without the requisite accountability, this cycle of violent crime will continue to plague our community.

We call upon District Attorney Boston to recognize the severity of this crime and the cold-blooded intent of these perpetrators. To ensure justice is served and deterrence is established, it is imperative to try these individuals as adults. Such a step is crucial for healing and must serve as a stern warning that violent actions will be met with serious repercussions.

Please join me in advocating for justice for Deonte and in demanding a safer community. Let us bring forth change by holding those responsible truly accountable. Sign this petition and push for the District Attorney to take action against those who threaten the safety and harmony of our neighborhoods.
