This petition is imperative for us who had the privilege of knowing and loving Richard "Ricky" Troutt. Tragically, Ricky was murdered at just 50 years old. An unarmed, beloved friend, and the only child who was taken from his mother's arms too soon, Ricky was shot seven times by 23-year-old Skyler Edward Whitefield-Brewner following a verbal altercation. One of these shots he audaciously took was to Ricky's back. After the shooting, Ricky managed to return to their shared workplace, a local Bar-b-cutie restaurant, where he shockingly died in his mother's arms.

Whitefield-Brewner, a former employee of the restaurant and a man with an extensive criminal record, shockingly claimed self-defense and has yet to be charged with Ricky's murder. Our faith in the justice system hangs by a thread.

We implore District Attorney General Glenn Funk to take immediate and fitting action. Ricky could not defend himself on that horrific day. Today, we stand armed with our voices, and together we echo: Justice for Ricky Troutt is long overdue.

The individual Skyler Edward Whitefield- Brewner who took Ricky from us has an upcoming court date in April 2025, this year for outstanding warrants that he had prior to murdering Ricky and then fleeing the scene after he murdered Ricky in cold blood.

This description is straight from District Attorney General Glenn R. Funk's own Facebook page. This is the role by you Mr. Funk in which you were elected to keep our citizens and our streets safe in Davidson County, Nashville, Tennessee. Mr. Funk, there is another unarmed innocent life taken that deserves Justice. His name is Richard "Ricky" Troutt, and his murderer is Skyler Edward Whitefield-Brewner who is driving, walking and roaming our streets freely to take another innocent person's life and poses more danger to our city and its citizens many of which voted for you. Skyler Edward Whitefield-Brewner has an extensive violent lengthy criminal history with no regard for human life nor law enforcement and should have never been free in the first place to take the life of our beloved friend Ricky! Put yourself in the shoes of a parent who lost their only child to violent premeditated murder, not only to lose your only child in this manner, but to be present for the entire horrific event and holding your only child in your arms as they take their last breaths is unimaginable, unbearable and unspeakable. The decision rests with you to seek Justice for Richard "Ricky" Troutt and we are urging you to formally Charge Skyler Edward Whitefield-Brewner with the Murder of Richard Troutt. We can't give back the life that was taken from his mother, but we can make sure Justice is served for her in getting Justice for her son and hold accountable and prosecute the person responsible for his cold-blooded murder to the fullest extent of the law. No parent should have to bury their child!
