Petition to Urge Congress to Support Eli’s Law: Reduced Sentences for First-Time Nonviolent Offenders

I am the mother of Elizabeth Hernandez, a nurse practitioner and mother of five, who was sentenced to 20 years for a first-time, nonviolent offense. This harsh punishment has devastated our family and highlights the need for fairer sentencing laws. 

Eli’s Law seeks to reduce sentences for first-time nonviolent offenders, offering them a second chance to rebuild their lives and keep families together. By supporting this law, we can reduce prison overcrowding, cut costs for taxpayers, and help reintegrate individuals back into society.
