The Issue

This is what it will look like again when the road construction is done. It is hard to see to turn onto 1488 safely

As a resident of Magnolia, TX, I have witnessed the transformation of Dorris Dr from a safe road to a hazardous traffic zone. The once peaceful street has become increasingly dangerous due to the attachment and utilization by Williams Trace subdivision. The road was never designed to handle this level of traffic and is now struggling under the strain.

Dorris Dr is currently so narrow that it cannot safely accommodate two vehicles side by side. This poses an immediate threat not only for cars but also for motorcycles and pedestrians who use this road daily. Moreover, turning onto Dorris Dr from from FM 1488 has become perilous due to inadequate space at the stop sign.

This situation calls for immediate action from Montgomery County Commissioner Charlie Riley. We urge him to widen Dorris Dr enough for two vehicles from FM 1488 up to Angelico which leads into Williams Trace. This improvement will significantly enhance safety on our roads and prevent potential accidents caused by insufficient space.

It is terrible when a school bus, trash truck, or other large vehicle is on Dorris  sometimes there will be at least 5 cars, sometimes more, waiting to get home. But because of these oversized vehicles, or even regular vehicles, there is no room and we have to wait for them to pass

A motorcycle can’t even turn right onto Dorris Dr safely, without coming to a stop. And that is dangerous. Sure, everything is good at the stop sign, FOR THE MOMENT. Once 1488 is complete, it will no longer be safe for a car or a motorcycle to turn right from 1488 onto Dorris. The drop-off encountered when doing so will make a motorcyclist go down, or small cars (like mine)to bottom out.

I don’t even think there was an impact study done for Dorris Dr. at least I can’t find one.

We believe that everyone deserves safe roads in their community - let's make sure ours are fit for purpose too! Please sign this petition urging Commissioner Riley to take action on this pressing issue today!

if you are asked for money to promote the petition, please opt out and only sign. I didn’t pay to make the petition and I certainly wouldn’t ask someone to pay to sign. Someone paid to promote it and I can’t remove it. I’m so sorry that happened, but I still need your support and your signature, just not your money.
