Urge Canadian Government to Provide Pies to Foodbanks

The Issue

Growing up in a low-income family, I've relied on foodbanks throughout my entire childhood, witnessing first-hand how the volume of food we receive has steadily decreased. Nowadays, foodbanks are struggling to meet the rising demand for their services. With reduced donations and increased costs, the challenge is immense. Coupled with Canada's rising poverty levels, food banks are a crucial lifeline, saving countless Canadians from starvation. Over two million people visit foodbanks—a record high.

This petition calls on the Canadian government to take an innovative approach in combating food insecurity by providing freshly made pies and pizzas to foodbanks. This initiative can offer both a nutritious and comforting meal to those in need. Not only could this provide immediate relief, it would offer a diverse range of options, including vegetarian and vegan, to cater to various dietary needs.

We propose that the recipes for these pies and pizzas be selected from a national contest involving talented chefs, ensuring both creativity and nutritional balance. By leveraging the expertise and passion of culinary professionals, we can craft meals that are both delicious and wholesome.

Every person visiting a foodbank would receive a couple of pies, ensuring that no one leaves empty-handed. This initiative would alleviate immediate hunger and provide an opportunity for the community to come together in the fight against poverty.

Let's make a difference in the lives of millions of Canadians facing hunger each day. Sign this petition to urge the Canadian government to make a commitment to food security and community well-being by implementing this sustainable food initiative. Together, we can contribute to a brighter, hunger-free future for everyone. No brand named foods as they lack variety and nutrition.
