Urge Canada Post to Support Truth and Reconciliation with free shipping for QFS

Urge Canada Post to Support Truth and Reconciliation with free shipping for QFS
The Issue
Quilts for Survivors (QFS)
We are a group of dedicated individuals, committed to contributing to Indigenous reconciliation by making quilts for survivors of residential schools, day schools and the 60s scoop.
These institutions have left an indelible mark on Indigenous communities in Canada. Of the 150,000 children sent away, approximately 45,000 survivors remain today (source: National Center for Truth and Reconciliation).
These quilts are not just blankets; they represent our solidarity with the survivors. Each stitch is a symbol of our commitment to acknowledging past wrongs and working towards healing.
Our founder, Vanessa Génier, was honoured with a Governor General's award in February 2024 for her commendable work of bringing us all together and providing “the little guy” with a way to contribute to reconciliation.
The official awards ceremony is scheduled for May 2024. With your signature, may she receive her award knowing that the Canadian Government truly does support her efforts with free shipping for quilts.
In March 2024, Vanessa was named one of the Top 25 Women of Influence in Canada. She is making a difference. Our quilts are making a difference.
On March 19, 2024, a call went out on social media that QFS had 300 quilts completed and ready to ship but no funds for postage. They needed $9000. We need your signature to convince Canada Post to provide free shipping. The cost is crippling for “the little guy”.
Our mission is simple yet profound - to acknowledging past wrongs and work towards healing through the gift of a quilt.
We ask Canada Post to join us in this mission by facilitating the delivery of these quilts across the country at no cost.
This act would be a significant step towards truth and reconciliation;
showing that every sector has a role in mending our national fabric.
Join us in urging Canada Post to support this cause. Sign this petition today!
