The Issue

Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club usually never misses a beat on being on the right side of its fans and local community (e.g Albion in the Community & Albion Foundation) unfortunately at some point the club has made the controversial decision to remove the cherished Heritage Tiles from their stadium. These plaques are more than just engravings; most are heartfelt tributes dedicated by families and friends to honour loved ones who have passed on, keeping their memory alive in a place that held significance to them.

These Tiles are no mere inscriptions on stone, but represent a deep personal connection and serve as a lasting memory for the departed. Removing them not only erases this connection but also disrespects the emotional and financial investment made by those who commissioned them. This decision has understandably met with disappointment from the local community, who see this move as disregarding the sentimental and historical values these plaques and fans hold.

While we understand there may be logistical reasons behind this decision, we urge Brighton and Hove Albion to reconsider their actions. A better solution would be to either carefully relocate the Tiles to an appropriate and respectful place or return them to the families who originally applied for them. This ensures that the memories associated with these Tiles remain unharmed and valued.

It is crucial that the club acknowledges the importance of these plaques to the families and supporters, demonstrating their commitment to community and heritage. By reversing or amending their decision, Brighton and Hove Albion can demonstrate their respect for their supporters and the community fabric which supports and celebrates the club.

We call on Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club to take swift action in addressing this issue to maintain the goodwill and trust of its community. Please sign this petition to advocate for the preservation and relocation of these important memorial plaques to preserve the memories of those who once walked beside us, and that it's not too late to not slate a large portion of fans who may have, or still do, live and breath BHAFC!

Thank you.
