Dear community,
We did something absolutely incredible. Thanks to your voices, your attendance, and your passion, the Brevard BOCC voted unanimously (4-0) to deny the high-density rezoning project at Pioneer and N. Courtney Road! This is a massive victory for Merritt Island and a testament to what happens when a community stands together to protect its small-town character.
But winning a fight like this takes professional, expert legal backing. To secure this victory, we hired top-tier legal representation to stand up against the developers at the public hearing.
As you can see from our final invoice from Fernandez Legal our total legal bill came to $9,603.00.
Thanks to our initial community pledges, we have already successfully paid $5,000.00 toward this bill. We also have $1,600.00 remaining in our account from those initial collections that will go straight toward this invoice. However, that still leaves us with a balance of almost $3,000.00 that needs to be covered immediately.
This legal battle protected all of our property values, our safety, and our local roads. Chelsey and I put our hearts into coordinating this fight for our neighborhoods and hoping the remainder of the financial responsibility doesn’t fall directly on us and we can raise it together.
ANY and all donations are deeply appreciated so we can clear this final hurdle together. If everyone who signed this petition or attended the meeting chips in just $10, $20, or $50, we will wipe this balance out in no time.
