We now have one family member in Australia thanks to a visa that was a non-refugee visa. I have updated the main blurb in this petition accordingly. From my limited research it appears that the other family members need to have sufficient English on an English test to be able to get work refugee visas. This looks great on paper, but they have been studying for over 9 years now and as a language professional I would say they have intermediate English but aren’t getting the English scores. I agree Australia should have English standards, but I wonder if there’s a better way for Australia to test English scores for refugees? Often their written language is better than spoken English.
