Urge Apple to Incorporate Belarusian Language Autocorrection and Predictive Text

The Issue

I am Belarusian, and Belarusian language is not just ink on a page, but a vital part of my identity and cultural heritage. Yet, in the swift march of technological advancement, it feels as though we, the Belarusian community, have been left behind. Despite the increasing use of our language chiefly amongst the youth who are reveling in their linguistic roots, Apple, a global tech giant shaping our communication ways, has not yet incorporated the Belarusian language autocorrection and predictive text.

Belarusian is one of the two official languages of Belarus, enriching the lives of its over 9.5 million residents. While it's true that Russian has a strong presence in our nation due to strong Russification, which has been happening for more than a century now, more and more young Belarusians start to express themselves in their native language more frequently, especially in written form. With the surge of 21st century technology, having strong digital support for our language isn't just a convenience, it's become a necessity.

So why hasn't Apple incorporated Belarusian into its autocorrection and predictive text technologies? Apple has shown care for Slavic languages, having recently added support for Ukrainian. This raises hope as well as questions for the Belarusian users. If Apple can support one Slavic language, why not ours too?

It's time for Apple to recognize the increasing prominence of the Belarusian language and to provide its user community with the much-needed autocorrect and predictive text functionalities. We want to honor our linguistic identity seamlessly in the digital world too, and we need Apple's help. Will you stand beside me and the entire Belarusian community in this cause? Please support this petition urging Apple to incorporate Belarusian language autocorrection and predictive text.
