As someone who grew up in a society where representation of successful black individuals and businesses was scarce, I found excitement and inspiration in the series "Riches" on Amazon Prime Video. This show, with its majority black cast, not only entertained us but also served as an emblem of success for people of color. It showed us that we too can be prosperous entrepreneurs owning multi-million-dollar businesses.

The cancellation of this series is more than just the end of a TV show; it's the snuffing out of a beacon that inspires young, diverse girls to dream big. "Riches", penned by Abby Ajayi, is not just another series; it's a beacon that illuminates the success and wealth achievable by black people in our society, while providing quality entertainment for all viewers. The creator Abby Ajayi has already prepared Season 2 for production, which means there is still hope for this excellent show to continue. Let's give her work the platform it deserves.

The decision to cancel such an impactful show sends an unfortunate message about representation in media. According to a 2020 report from UCLA's Hollywood Diversity Report, only 14% of lead roles in digital scripted series were played by Black actors (Source: UCLA). By reinstating "Riches", Amazon Prime Video can contribute positively towards changing these statistics.

Furthermore, with over 200 million subscribers worldwide as of 2020 (source: Statista), Amazon Prime Video has the power and reach to make a significant impact. Reinstating "Riches" would not only delight its existing fan base but would also send a powerful message to millions of viewers that positively impacts them by encouraging diversity and its importance in storytelling.

We urge Amazon Prime Video leadership to reconsider the decision to cancel "Riches". Listen to your audience and take action that aligns with the values of diversity and representation that we all hold dear. Let this show continue to be a source of inspiration and entertainment. 

Please reinstate "Riches" for Season 2. By doing so, Amazon Prime Video can demonstrate its commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in a tangible and meaningful way.
