As the majority representative for custodial maintenance, guidance, teachers, educational support professionals, aides, and secretarial staff at Mainland Regional High School, I am compelled to voice our collective concern. Since July 1, 2025, dedicated members of the Mainland Regional Education Association (MREA) have been working tirelessly without a settled contract. This includes everyone from teachers to custodians, all committed to nurturing our students and maintaining the institution's standards.

The absence of a fair and transparent contract has imposed significant uncertainty and stress upon us. We continue to serve our community with unparalleled dedication, yet the financial burden and lack of stability pose a substantial threat to our wellbeing. This situation undermines the value of our employees and, if left unaddressed, could lead to long-term detrimental effects on both staff morale and educational quality.

MREA has continually engaged in good-faith negotiations, striving for an agreement that reflects dignity and respect for our roles. However, the Superintendent, and the Mainland Regional Board of Education have not yet presented terms that honor our dedicated service.

We call on the Board and their agents to acknowledge the detrimental impact of this delay on our staff and the education system. By resolving this issue promptly with a fair and equitable contract, they can affirm their commitment to the educators and staff who are the backbone of our school community.
