City Council To Review Updated Mega-Shelter Pitch | Voice of San Diego

A summary of talking points to assist you when you call or write:

— Individuals who have lived the experience of homelessness and those who are lifelong advocates for the homeless have spoken out AGAINST the MEGA shelter at Kettner and Vine. All have opposed this cruel and inhumane treatment of stuffing homeless into a warehouse.

— Kettner and Vine is on one of the busiest streets in San Diego and the ingress to the Airport and downtown.

— Those who are experiencing homelessness have become hardened to life on the streets in order to protect themselves.  They also develop a strong lack of trust and some mentally and emotionally challenges as well.  Most have said, they would not want to have 65sqft of space in a high-density environment and therefore will not use it.

— The City is cutting City services to meet its budget shortfalls. Paying to rehab Doug Hamm’s warehouse should not even be considered.

So please write the mayor and city council and just say NO to Kettner and Vine.
