Mayor Todd Gloria continues to push for the Kettner and Vine Mega Shelter Lease against the advice of the City Attorney's Office, the Independent Budget Analyst's office and the people it is suppose to serve, the homeless. The Union Tribune has voiced their objections to the Mega Shelter as well. Many citizens from across the City are writing letters to the editor to object to this fiscally irresponsible deal.
Please continue to send your objections to the following council people and the Mayor. The Mayor plans on pushing this deal through in September. Consider sending an editorial to the UT or other media outlets as well. We need to continue our great efforts to spread the word. The whole City will be paying for this deal long after Gloria moves on...sounds like another 101 Ash Street....

This proposed facility, potentially the largest in California, would be irresponsibly placed amidst schools, businesses, restaurants, and residential areas. Its proximity a bustling thoroughfare, the main artery to the San Diego Airport, which would put both drivers and the homeless at severe risk of injury and or death. This location, its costs, lack of funding, and lack of transparency raises serious fiduciary, fiscal, safety and logistical concerns.
