Get The Facts on the 1,000 Person Homeless Facility at Kettner & Vine Street
From 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, July 8, hear from residents of surroundingcommunities about the mayor's current proposed lease for the Kettner & Vine shelter location
(3553 California Street, SD) to house 1,000 homeless individuals. No community input has been allowed to date. Shakespeare Pub is located at 3701 India Street.
Thousands of people from various communities, including Middletown, Old Town, Little Italy, Mission Hills, Bankers Hills, Point Loma and Downtown have joined together in opposition, including San Diego Neighborhoods, Point Loma Cares and Mission Hills Cares for the following reasons:
• Health, Safety and Welfare of the Residents
• City’s Liability
• Implications of a “Permanent” Shelter with a long term lease – 35 years
o Annually costing the city $1.9 million (+ 4% increase every year) + $30-40 million in annual operating expenses (escalating by an unknown amount annually).
A $35 donation at the event will support legal action. Checks should be made out to Mission Hills Cares.
