April 15, 2026 – Stagecoach Responds: “We Want to Improve the X7”
Yesterday, on April 14, 2026, we have made history on a major development regarding the X7.
After raising concerns about capacity and passenger experience, Stagecoach themselves have now responded, confirming that it is their "long-term aspiration to improve the X7". This is a significant step forward – it means that the issue is not only being raised by passengers, it it also recognised by the operator! However, Stagecoach also took heed of "cost implications that need to be worked through carefully", highlighting the core challenge.
This makes it even more important to ensure that any future changes are targeted where they are needed most.
From recent observations and passenger feedback, demand on the X7 varies significantly depending on time, section and direction – with busier journeys (especially towards Leicester in the mornings) experiencing higher demand.
At the same time, new buses are to enter service later this month. While these improve comfort and accessibility, they remain single-deck vehicles and might not completely address capacity concerns on even the busiest journeys.
This campaign never was about opposing improvements. It is about ensuring that capacity is matched to demand where journeys need it most.
With Stagecoach now acknowledging the issue, our next step is clear: turning that attention into action.
