Firstly, thank you again for supporting the petition to fix the Narangba Rail Crossing. Without people like you standing up, our community voice wouldn’t be as strong as it is today.
Over the past few weeks, many people have asked me who I’ll be voting for in the upcoming Division 11 Council election. At first, I thought I’d stay quiet and let everyone make up their own mind. But something has happened that I can’t ignore.
I’ve been told that a particular candidate (and their supporters) have been making it seem as though the petition I worked so hard on was their own. I have given candidates, just like everyone else, the opportunity to download the council petition to print and gather signatures themselves. What I hate is that it’s now being used as a draw card for this particular candidate. I would hate for anyone to vote for a candidate under the false impression that they cared enough to start one themselves.
Alas, I’m not here to put down any candidate, but what I can do is tell you who I will be voting for.
For me, that person is Dean Clements.
Dean was the very first candidate to reach out to me about the intersection. He has shown integrity, openness, and a genuine sense of community spirit. He hasn’t tried cheap tricks, nor has he made empty promises—he has been upfront, respectful, and realistic about what can be achieved. In every conversation, he has treated me with honesty and kindness, and I believe he truly has the best interests of our community at heart.
Of course, it’s your vote and your choice. But for me, when I cast mine, I’ll be putting number one beside Dean Clements—because integrity matters, honesty matters, and our community deserves nothing less.
Thank you again for standing beside me in this journey. However you vote, I hope you’ll make your voice heard.
With gratitude,
Haley
