I am writing this petition from a place of personal attachment and concern for my community in Hackettstown. Not only am I a resident here, but I am also a small business owner, and most importantly, a supporter of our local merchants . The current coin-operated parking meter system in downtown Hackettstown poses challenges, discouraging potential patrons due to the hassle of use and concerns about fines. This outdated system is seen as inconvenient and decreases the appeal of shopping at our local businesses. Considering last year's parking meter income sat at a modest $9,000, it's evident that alternative solutions could present financially beneficial outcomes in addition to addressing patron frustration.

We propose an upgrade to the current coin-operated parking system. A digitalized, user-friendly, and efficient experience could potentially increase downtown patronage, boost our local economy, and contribute to a thriving, Hackettstown. As a community, we have a shared interest in these developments. We commend the historical functionality of the current system but believe that it is time for a transformation that benefits all stakeholders and fortifies Hackettstown's potential.
