Y’all. New piece of legislation was introduced on April 1st 2025. H.R.2540 - SSI Savings Penalty Elimination Act It’s called and the link is https://www.congress.gov/bill/119th-congress/house-bill/2540/text we have bipartisan support for this piece of legislation. In 2023-2024 we had many bipartisan support,CEO of banks and few people on wallstreet was very supportive of updating and reform of ssi. But never happened. Maybe this time since the bill was introduced in the ways and means. Maybe we can get it to pass this year. Please email your representatives and ask them to support this bill,call them if possible also take to social media from their Facebook,instagram,twitter/X. Also if they have TikTok try to comment as well. This will take all of us to get this passed. Been 41 years since any update to ssi in the way of reforms and asset limits,marriage penalty is still in effect as we speak right now and it’s June 21st 2025. But thank you all who has shared,signed this petition and advocating for better social programs and what not where our disable,special needs depend on. Maybe we could come together and partner up with each other and then we can get this done. People on ssi shouldn’t be in poverty. They shouldn’t have to decide if marriage is worth it or not cause they can be kicked off ssi or cuts to their benefits. The goal is very simple but a big task. I would love to see us have zero asset limits on ssi so people can save money,have savings so they can afford housing (buying,renting) also they can be just like others in the country!!
