As many as 1 in 6 children in the U.S. have trouble processing sensory inputs

Our schools aren’t built for them… yet.

Kids with sensory challenges, ADHD, autism, anxiety, and other neurodivergent needs deserve classrooms where they can actually learn — not just survive the school day.

But right now, many local classrooms don’t have the tools, training, or resources to support these students.

I’m asking our school district to adopt sensory-friendly policies, improve accommodations, and ensure that every child gets the support they deserve.

I am the parent of a sweet, smart, loving little boy who is struggling in his school environment, not because of his abilities, but because the school system isn't designed with his needs in mind. This is a personal plea to Cleveland County Schools to take immediate action in updating classrooms and school policies to be more inclusive for children with autism.

Children, like my son, with autism spectrum disorders, face unique challenges in a traditional school setting. These challenges often hinder their learning and social development. Yet, with the right support and understanding from their environment, they are more than capable of thriving, not merely coping. It is heart-wrenching to witness these capable children being left behind due to a lack of appropriate support and understanding.
