The response from the NCERT: NCERT reprints its textbooks every year with necessary updation keeping in view quality concerns and cost effectiveness. In the year 2017-18 and 2018-19 based on suggestions received from teachers and different stakeholders on rationalization of curriculum, NCERT had reviewed and updated its textbooks incorporating National priorities, updating data based on Census 2011 and other surveys, etc. Further, as a follow up of new National Educational Policy which is in the process of finalization, new National Curriculum Framework, syllabus and textbooks will be developed addressing emerging expressed by different stakeholders. The Department of Education in Social Sciences has looked into the observation made by you. ln this very context we wish to state that as and when the books are sent for the reprint version, they are updated. Presently the department is evaluating its own textbooks in Social Sciences of classes 6 to 12. We will look in to the observations made by you. Regarding your observation made on the removal of topics like " The Nationalist Movement in lndo-China, Work Life and Leisure, we wish to state that it was undertaken as part of the rationalization process, a few years ago. However, the two chapters are available digitally, and this has been clearly mentioned in the physical textbooks as QR code resource. Some questions asked by me were still left unanswered but I am happy that at least I got a reply from NCERT. I would like to thank each and everyone one who signed and supported my petition. Regards, Sambhav Gupta
