UNSW is leasing David Phillips ground to a professional rugby club.

The issue

A great University Education is not just about academic studies. A rounded education often involves joining sporting and other clubs.

UNSW has a shortage of sporting facilities. Their major ground: The Village Green was closed last year and is now lying dormant with a plan to never to use it again for major sport. Now David Phillips ground, the next most important field for cricket, rugby , football and AFL, is to be leased on a long-term basis to the NSW Waratahs, a professional rugby team. This will deprive Uni clubs of another facility which was  fairly recently upgraded at huge cost.

In a University with a proud sporting history and one which has historically turned out high achieving, well rounded students, how can this decision make sense?  If you  disagree with UNSW's decision, please join this petition.
