Unsafe Classroom Temperatures at St. Gregory Catholic School

Unsafe Classroom Temperatures at St. Gregory Catholic School
The Issue
We, the parents, guardians, and concerned members of the St. Gregory Catholic School community, urgently call upon the Toronto Catholic District School Board to take immediate action to address the hazardous and unacceptable conditions caused by the lack of air conditioning in our school.
Problem: Extreme Classroom Temperatures: St. Gregory is one of the few three-story schools in the TCDSB. Our windows, meant for an air-conditioned building, open 3 inches, and fails to ventilate the hot classroom air, trapping in the heat and humidity. This creates an EXTREME environment that is neither safe nor conducive to learning. Our school has only one cooling center, located in the library, which can accommodate 80 students, even though our student population exceeds 700. Classrooms frequently exceed 30°C. How can we expect our children to learn in this type of environment?
Why This Matters: The current conditions at St. Gregory Catholic School are unacceptable and pose serious health risks to our children and staff. Prolonged exposure to high temperatures can lead to severe health complications, disrupts learning, and is unfair when compared to other schools in Toronto with better facilities.
