Dear everyone,

Thanks so much for your support for our campaign to get the vital cliff works on the only railway linking Cornwall, Plymouth (including Devonport Dockyard), Torbay and much of South Devon back on track. We're almost up to 800 signatures, and in sight of 1,000.

Apologies for being rather quiet last week - the day job on Modern Railways had to take priority - but things are moving here and I'll have more time to devote to banging the drum and trying to get some positive media coverage in the South West over the coming days.

We're doing well. I recently completed a retrospective on the Save Our Sleeper campaign for MR, and what leaps out is how far ahead we are on signatures and support: it took six weeks to gain 350 signatures back in 2005, and we're well over double that in a fortnight.

If you haven't already shared the petition with friends, family, colleagues - anyone you can - please do so, and do spread the word as well. Because even if you don't ever travel by train, when those cliffs go (and it is 'when', not 'if'), you'll notice the effects on the roads with more traffic, and businesses whose customers arrive by train (and there's a lot who do in the South West) will also really feel the difference.

We're doing well, and thanks to the support of MPs Martin Wrigley, Caroline Voaden and Steve Darling, we're going to have a voice in Parliament when it resumes next month. Let's continue making as much noise as we can and give them the ammunition to make the case in Westminster.

Thanks again, for all your support - it is making a difference already.

Andy
