Dear all,
Thank you so much - we’ve only gone and got more than 500 signatures for our campaign in the first week! For a regional rail campaign this is really good going. I’ve just completed a feature looking back at Save Our Sleeper 20 years on and it took six weeks to hit the 350 mark.
It’s been a bit of a whirlwind week, and thanks to everyone’s efforts, the three MPs whose constituencies are most affected by the Government’s ‘pause’ on the cliff works are lending their support. We have Newton Abbot MP Martin Wrigley, South Devon MP Caroline Voaden and Torbay MP Steve Darling ready to lobby hard when Parliament returns from recess.
Modern Railways’ Industry & Technology Editor Roger Ford - unquestionably the most respected railway journalist in the business - is also weighing in on our behalf with his unimpeachable technical authority.
We’ve done really well. I thought we might get 100 signatures in the first week, so to already be looking to the 1,000 milestone is just marvellous.
Please do share the petition with everyone you can, write to your MP about it - and do feel free to contact me at saveourrailwaydawlish@gmail.com.
Well done everyone - the campaign is taking off, so let’s keep the momentum going!
Andy
