Dear friends of the Ski Team,
We would like to thank you for you incredible support, it means to world to us! Now we need to stand together as one to turn this ship around!
The next UNM Board of Regents meeting is on Tuesday, April 18th, 8:00 am at Hodgin Hall (south of the engineering department).
We need to get as many friends, student-athletes, professors, staff, etc. as possible to come and show their support for the Ski Team on Tuesday. We should try to be there as early as 7:30 am to make sure the Regents see us when they arrive to fill the room.
We know that many people won't have the chance to physically support us on Tuesday, but we are also starting an e-mail campaign right now as well as a phone campaign Monday morning. Please contact the following individuals and express your support for the Ski Team. Describe your affiliation with UNM, Athletics, the Ski Team, the state of New Mexico, its ski industry or simply why you think, the UNM Ski Team deserves to continue its tradition.

Here is a short paragraph outlining part of the budget aspects of the UNM Ski Team:
The actual total budget of the ski program is very close to $550, 000 (according to ski team calculations, not approximately 600,000 as stated by Mr. Krebs). However, UNM receives sponsorship money from NCAA of $35,382. This brings the actual cost of the ski program to athletics down to approximately $515,000. Out of this approximately, $230,000 is income to UNM main campus in the form of scholarships paid by athletics and tuition, fees, and books paid by walk-on Student Athletes and assistant coaches that are paid by ski team fundraising. The total cost to UNM is thus $285,000. This would be brought down further considering that these 23 SA’s are spending their money on campus and UNM bookstore etc. Some of them also stayed in the dorms for a year or two. The ski team has no facilities or maintenance costs for the athletic department. We do not have million dollar buildings, fields, or courts that needs to be maintained. Some also stay and pay their own way through a graduate degree at UNM.
We will post the full explanation as well as an outline of all budget aspects of the team on http://www.saveunmskiteam.com/ .
Thank you very much and #golobos,
The UNM Ski Team
